A Good Day Until...

Yesterday when we drove up to mom's house I noticed a package on her porch and I asked if she ordered anything and she said no.  So, got the package and took it inside to open and it was the August 2011 Bead Trends issue.  I forgot we were in this issue.  The piece we submitted is on pages 94-95.

It is one of the pieces we made for the last Bead Soup Blog party.  Mom and I were so excited to see the necklace in the magazine.  I told mom we need to keep submitting pieces because I love seeing them in magazines :)

Today mom needed help to take her three kitties to the vet for a checkup.  Here are her babies:

This is Max and he is the oldest now.

This is Sasha and he is too smart for his own good sometimes.

And this is Lily, terror on four legs, but she is a mushmellow too.

Mom and I aren't ready to talk about about all of the vet appointment, lets just saw it isn't good.  Sasha needs blood work done because they hear a heart murmur.  Did you know heart murmur's have a scale, one to six?  One of course being good and six being bad.  Well, we knew Sasha was special but didn't know how special until the vet said he was at a level 5.  He will be having blood work done next week and we will see where we go from there.  More will follow next week.

Needless to say mom and I aren't in a very good mood.  So, we went running around.  We stopped at Ivy Tech to see our piece that is being displayed with other artists for Art on the Wabash on September 18th.

We stopped at the American Legion to take pictures of the bricks with my uncle, grandpa and myself.  This is the American Legion's memorial wall.

Then we came home to saw, saw, saw.  Oh, I have to show you this first.

Mom made a home made lightbox so she could draw up our design for this month's Art Bead Scene Challenge piece.  Mom is so ingenious, I guess I will keep her!!!

Here is our ABS challenge piece before it was sawed out.

Here is the piece after mom sawed it out.  I will really keep mom just because of her sawing prowess!  Though I have actually been sawing today too, though I only saw out the perimeter's of the pieces.  We have a lot of pieces we are trying to get sawed out so I had to break down and help out.  I hope to be able to do a large enameling session tomorrow.
I am heading back out to help mom saw.  Don't forget tomorrow is I Heart Macro and we have some neat pictures to share.  Have a great rest of your weekend!

  2. Congrats on the magazine feature - that's so awesome. I used to do a lot of rubber stamping and would submit my work to magazines and it was always such a thrill to see my name & work in print....keep submitting.

    Hope the kitties are OK.

Love, love, love, your challenge piece...can't wait to see it finished.

  3. @Jane - I can only hope it will look as good after I enamel it. It is always a crap shoot on what is going to happen but I am trying to be positive :)

@Sandi - Thanks for the comment about the magazine. That is one of the goals I set mom and I this year, to get into a magazine. We met them twice and one more will be coming out in November (I think). We hope Sasha will be fine, we have our fingers crossed.

I jumped when I saw Beth across from my name on the Bead Soup list and then realized it wasn't the same last name. I thought we were partners =-( wouldn't that have been fun!! Hope your kitties are all ok and I am just curious- how do you recycle your copper scraps?
