Extension Update on Mom's House

Front of mom's house - her poor flower beds
Well it has started - the construction on mom's house.

If you don't know what I am talking about you can go here and here to find out what is going on.

On the pile of dirt are bulbs that mom is
trying to salvage to replant
Last night mom signed the contract and it has finally stopped raining long enough for them to start digging for the sewer line to the back of the house for the extension.

The side of mom's house
It took a little longer for them to start too because they had to talk to the city about going through the main line instead of the one that goes to the house - the builder put the darn thing under mom's driveway so they needed a waiver to dig in a different place.  Hello, under the driveway - what were you thinking?????

Back of mom's yard
Both of us are now more excited and freaking scared because we don't know what to expect.  I have an idea of what it is going to look like but I have to see it to believe it!!!  Plus now it is hitting me that I need to start working on my house to get it ready to be put on the market - now how scary is that!!!!

Bead Soup Partner - Jill MacKay

What we sent Jill
Our partner for the 7th Annual Bead Soup Blog Party is Jill MacKay.  Last weekend Jill had a prior commitment and couldn't post but she has posted now.

Please take a moment to go and see the gorgeous creation that Jill created with the goodies we sent her - you won't be disappointed!

Here is the link to see the first reveal group.

Here is the link for the second reveal group.

The third reveal has been postponed until April 27th - which I will be a little late looking at all the goodies because mom and I have a show that weekend.

I am still hopping and loving everything I have seen.  You guys are all wonderful!

I also want to do another shout out to our wonderful party hostesses - Lori!  You do an amazing job with this party and both mom and I feel awesome that we are able to participate each time!

It isn't pie - but hope you still like it Lori :)

Focus on Life Week 16 - The Flood of 2013

Hello all - this week's Focus on Life prompt was Go for Walk.  I have to admit I did not do any walking this week because we had a monsoon come through our area.  I think it has been raining and storming for the last week and I am sure not walking when it is like that :) Though today the sun was out even if it was a lot cold.  Mom and I decided to go across to West Lafayette to Tapawingo Park, where the show Art on the Wabash is held in September.  Here are the pics we took.

Here is a swing set and play area under water

Here is an image of where our tent would be in the park - way over by that tree
where the yellow arrow is pointing.

Love this pic of the bike down hill sign going into the water
and the right arrow sign

Geese having fun swiming in the river

Lamp Posts with water all the way up on the trails that
go down the river

Love the pic of the branches against the sky

Cloud formations were awesome

This gives you an idea on how high the water is - both of these are bridges
one is a train bridge and the other a car bridge

Cracked stone on the pedestrian bridge

I hope you enjoyed the walk through the "Flood of 2013" with me.  Please head on over to Sally's blog to see a list of everyone else who is participating in this week's Focus on Life.

The 7th Bead Soup Blog Party 2nd Reveal

It is finally here - our reveal date for the 7th Annual Bead Soup Blog Party.  This is our fifth time participating in the party and each time just seems to get better and better.

For this Bead Soup Party our partner is Jill MacKay.

Just as a reminder of what Jill sent us for our soup ingredients.  You can also go here and read about the goodies.

In case you are just joining us and want to know what the Bead Soup Party is all about, here you go:  It is a wonderful party hosted by the brilliant Lori, Pretty ThingsLori had the bright idea to host a party where she partners up jewelry artists from around the world.  You and your partner swap jewelry components: any beads, findings and elements of the partners choice but there must be a mandatory focal and art clasp.  You must use the focal and clasp in a piece and the rest is up to you on how you want to use.  Lori then comes up with reveal dates and you choose what date you want to participate in.  Then we, as a group, post our images of our pieces on those reveal dates and then get to hopping to see all the wonderful creations.

Here is what mom and I created from Jill's goodies:

Mom and I ended up making two necklaces with almost all the components that Jill sent us, a pair of earrings and a bracelet with the left over pearls.

This is an image of all four of our pieces together.

An image of the two necklaces together.  The necklaces are meant to be worn together or separately.  Like I said we used almost all of the beads, findings and clasp in these two necklaces.

Both of the necklaces seperated.

Now a close up of the components that Jill sent us:

Mom and I wanted to create a couple of more pieces to go with our Soup goodies.

Mom and I loved the shape of the components that Jill sent us, so mom sawed out the shape in copper and then I enameled the pieces in the same color pallet as the beads we received from Jill.  Mom and I are both loving these colors together!

Here is the bracelet that we made - though it is a work in progress.  I don't like how inflexible the bracelet is and both mom and I don't like how it lies on the wrist.  So, will disassemble and try again - we are thinking of putting one of the pendants on top of the wrist and the other on the bottom and hook the clasp on the side.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you take the time to see all the other wonderful creations in this reveal date.

Lori
for such a wonderful party!
