August Art Bead Scene Monthly Challenge

Sunrise, 1964 by John "Jack" Savitsky (1910-1991)
Lansford, Pennsylvania
24 x 48 in: Oil on Masonite
American Folk Art Museum, gift of David L. Davies.

The painting is called "Sunrise" by Jack Savitsky's.  It is dominated by a glorious golden sun whose deeply textured and patterned rays occupy three-quarters of the composition.  If you wish to learn more about the painting please go to the Art Bead Scene blog.

For this months challenge I used a piece that I have had created for a while.  The "Sun Flare" necklace just cried out for this months challenge.  It was perfect!  The pendant is big and bold and matches the sun of the painting perfectly.  The necklace is accented with our lampwork glass beads, which some of the beads are acid etched.  The necklace is also accented with Czech beads and a Sterling Silver clasp.  I love this necklace.  If you would like to see more images please head over to our Flickr site.
