BTW - Bead Table Wednesday

It is another Bead Table Wednesday.  Today we didn't work on anything but we have projects going every which way.

First off:
You remember this necklace mom finished putting together this past weekend.  Well, it looks good laying on a flat surface but I found out this morning, when I wanted to wear it today for a test drive, the flowers don't want to lay all nice and pretty.

This is what happens if you don't hang the necklace just right - a flop over of the flowers.  Mom and I need to figure out how to not let this happen because you need to see the awesome flowers while the necklace is worn.  If anyone has any suggestions mom and I are taking them because we are stumped so far.  At least I found this out with me wearing it and not after a customer has bought it and they find out the flowers flop.

Today was my aunt's retirement party from Purdue.  My dad and step-mom flew in for her party and all four of us went out to dinner tonight, so that is why there was no jewelry done tonight.  So, I am going to show you the different projects mom and I have going.

The necklaces needing to be assembled:

I know these are a repeat of pictures from this weekend, but this is what is on our table right now.  At least there are no flower flop overs here.

Here are the pile of pieces that need to be sawed out:

I am really looking forward to having the ABS Challenge piece sawed out and enameled.  I have an idea of what I want the necklace to look like and I am sure mom has an idea too.  It is going to be interesting to see what the final piece turns out to look like.

The next few days should be interesting. Like I said earlier, my dad and step-mom flew in today for my aunt's retirement party.  I had a friend, who I have not seen since 1995 when I was stationed in Fort Riley, just fly in today for an interview on Purdue tomorrow and we are meeting tomorrow night for dinner.  Friday my other aunt is flying in for my great-aunt and great-uncle's 50th wedding anniversary this weekend.  This turned out to be a busy weekend.  So, I am not sure how much jewelry making mom and I will be able to do.

  1. put the flowers on head pins and string them hanging from the stringing wire. So the holes s are vertical, not horizontal. That's my idea!

  2. Sounds like Amy has a solution for you, sounds like that will work. I almost always wear everything I make at least once for that exact reason. Most of the time it's fine but often enough I find something that needs tweeked and I'm glad I find it before it gets sent out!

  3. You could make it asymetrical with the flowers going down one side or symetrical with one or a couple on each side. Or, I don't know if this would work, you could try running a 2nd strand (bead size may matter) below that one to see if the flowers will rest against it and sit properly. Would love to see how you solve it!

Thanks for finding me... now I've got a new blog to follow!
