Hey all - I have actually made it to week 5 of Focus on Life photos. It has been so much fun going to everyone's blog and checking out their photos for that week. I also want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments!
So, this week's photo is Hearts. Our assignment from Sally is as follows: "Have
you ever taken a moment to notice all the hearts that come into your
life everyday? From candy hearts, patterns on clothes, a paper heart
you make yourself or heart shaped spirals made from the ornate rod iron
fencing that you may or may not have ever noticed on your walk around
the neighborhood, hearts are hiding everywhere. This week pay attention to your surroundings, think outside the box and capture a heart!"
Before I received the prompt from Sally for this week's photo mom and I were working on sawing out heart pendants and the smaller hearts, toward the front, will end up being heart clasps. I was complaining to mom that the smaller hearts were a pain in the rear to enamel so she said why don't we make them into toggle clasps and you know I jumped right on board with that. These pendants just need to be filed and sanded and I can start enameling these babies. Still trying to figure out what colors I want to use - any suggestions would be appreciated :)
If you all remember I said I wanted to start teaching myself how to doodle or Zentangle. I did buy a book and sketch pad and I started last weekend. I have also started following several people on Pinterest and their doodle and Zentangle boards (thank you for suggesting that!). The above heart is the first thing I have completed. I do have doodles I did, but not ready to share yet.
I did take the Heart and played with it in PicMonkey. Here are a few other elements I did on the Heart:
So, those are our hearts for this week. I hope you head on over to The Studio Sublime and check out what everyone else took pics of this past week.
A heart shaped toggle...brilliant! I cannot help you on color choices, as there is no wrong color! Your zentangle is also fabulous! Love how this Focus Challenge is overflowing into "real life", you know?!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny reading 'teaching myself how to doodle' because it's something I did incessantly (and got into trouble for) as a child, and still do when bored with any paper and a writing implement handy. Your doodles are lots of fun! Great shapes.
ReplyDeleteLove the heart pendants and your Zentangle masterpiece! Congrats on finishing your first piece.
ReplyDeleteYour doodle looks so fun and free. I can't wait to see more when you are ready to share. Your heart components look amazing as well.
ReplyDeleteLove how you took the heart and used it as a jumping off place for other art experiments!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth! I'm another one who has had to "teach" myself to doodle, so you're not alone! As a child, I was more of a colorer (is SO a word!) than a doodler, so I've had to work at it. Looking forward to seeing the finished enamel hearts! Pretty!!
ReplyDeleteYour Zentangle heart is fantastic! I really love the last one in yellow!
ReplyDeleteYour zentangle is fantastic! I must give this a try!
ReplyDeleteThese Zentagles drawings are pretty neat. I love yours! The heart itself is a fun shape, too. How about a purple heart?
ReplyDeleteCreating zentangles is so relaxing don't you think? You did great with this one and I love the effects from picmonkey, cool!
ReplyDeleteI am learning about so many sites and art forms from these posts.
ReplyDeleteI have to get out on the internet more....
Pretty! I like the first one the best!
ReplyDeleteYour toggles are beautiful: any colour will be perfect on a heart-shaped toggle :) Your Zentangle are amazing too - love them a lot!
ReplyDeleteNothing like jumping right in and tangling yourself a lovely heart. You did awesome and it looks like fun! You have inspired me to try this.
ReplyDeleteLove the zentangle.. so creative. And the heart clasps.. why deep red is always good for a heart! But then again, any color is good! Because they are smallish.. ..maybe a solid colour?

ReplyDeleteYour work is always so wonderful!! ZENTANGLES! I love to doodle. And I love what you did in picmonkey. Love this.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I am really going to have to get a Zentangles book. Doodling is something I do all the time if I am bored and have paper and pencil....Great work with Picmonkey, I am going to have to check out their site.
ReplyDeleteLove your zentangle - awesome!
ReplyDeleteVery cool zentangles and a pop of red is always a fun color choice.
ReplyDeleteWow! Got to try and doodle. Ive been reading a lot about picmonkey. Note to self: Got to check it out this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!! You came up with a nice set of individual doodles... something I struggle with...seems I'm always in a repeating rut :)
ReplyDeleteToggle clasp sounds brilliant. I love how you played around with your zentangle on picmonkey, it really changes the look of it all together.
ReplyDeleteYAY!! You are Zentagling! (is that even a word) Beautiful heart Beth!! GOOD FOR YOU!!
ReplyDeleteReally like your doodle hearts, but would love to see some of the enamelled ones finsihed! I'm sure they would be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFor a first Doodle, that is fantasic. Don't you just love what you can do with PicMonkey!
ReplyDeleteI used to doodle for hours when I was younger I feel sad I let it go - good for you!
