Today mom and I are participating in the Holiday Ornament Swap and our partner was no other than our hostess Sally.
We received our lovely ornament a few weeks ago and it has been sitting in our window until mom put up a small Christmas tree that was my grandma's. The ornament is now hanging with our wooden ornaments from Germany.
There was a lovely note from Sally. The bead is from Karen Totten and the rest of the ornament was handcrafted by Sally.
Both mom and I love all the elements she combined into one piece!!! We had so much fun sitting on the couch passing the ornament back and forth (and for those who didn't know I am finally at mom's house now - I have been for the last three weeks). The cats also wanted to get into the fun of looking at the ornament - they loved that bead!
I don't know about mom - but I loved looking inside and shaking up the snowflakes and watching them drop. That is about as close to snow as I like to get :)
The backside is perfect for today - I think we are close to 8 inches of snow. Mom has been a shoveling fiend - she shoveled her driveway and then went to my house and shoveled it too (I just found out yesterday I have a sinus infection and was told to rest and mom is taking that to the tee - she won't let me help out at all!).
The ornament in the kitchen window.
The ornament on the tree with our prized wooden ornaments from Germany. Thank you so much for being our partner Sally. We had so much fun creating your ornament and we both love the ornament you sent us!!!

Oh, my, Beth... it's gorgeous! I wonder if Miss Sally would teach us how to make one - I love the idea of it being some sort of a snow globe, I am in love with snow globes (and I own zero :) ). I love the beautiful snowflake you made for Sally too - exquisite as usual!
ReplyDeleteOh thats a stunner! I would have to leave that up all season!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...i just LOVE those 3-D type pieces of art! This is just beautiful! I would leave it hanging on my window all year long! The ornament you all made Sally is equally beautiful! I hope you are feeling better soon....welcome home!!

That's gorgeous!!! Sally and I took the class together to learn to make those etched boxes. I've been too chicken to try to make any more. That is so pretty, and I love what you made her, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Beth and Evie,
ReplyDeleteThe ornament that Sally sent to you is gorgeous and I bet fun to play with too.
Merry Christmas,
Therese
Oh, what a lovely ornament Sally created for you!! I love the etched metal work and riveting with the encased bead. Did you say you can shake the bead and watch the snow flakes move???? How cool! Wishing you a very happy holiday!
ReplyDeleteSally's ornament is fabulous. I love that the snowflakes move and fall. I adore the ornament you two made for Sally as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, how cool is THAT! I expected something wonderful from our hostess, but this is just exceptional...very, very neat!....and I loved your beautiful snowflake for her. Merry Christmas ladies! Hope you're better soon!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful. I live in Florida and don't get to see snow....and get well soon, now is not the time to be sick....
ReplyDeleteOh such a lovely ornament! So much detail in it! I do like the snowflakes!
ReplyDeleteThe ornament that you received from Sally is wonderful. It's so cool that the snowflakes move inside it. The enameled snowflake that the two of you made is wonderful too. I just got home from my first enameling class and I can tell already that I want to do more of this.
ReplyDeleteMoving snowflakes? On top of gorgeousness? this is so very pretty. Off to see what you made for Sally. Christie
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely ornament! I can do without snow totally yesterday the winds were gusting over 50 miles per hour with heavy snow... Today is bright and sunny but still windy. Hope you both have a wonderful holiday season and I'm glad you got moved finally!
