Rain Drop Flowers

I usually don't let my photo be taken or even share any photos I have of myself with the world.  I thought today I would share this photo of me, taken at 1:00pm today.  Mom and I worked for two and half hours in my yard this morning.  We weeded and mulched one flower bed and planted five bushes (two I bought this morning, one yesterday and two were still from last year).  Last year I did not work in my yard at all, and you can tell because the weeds, grass and thistle have taken over.  I thought mom was going to cry when she saw how bad the yard was.  Last year I was more focused on working in the studio then on my yard or my house and now I am paying for it.  Mom and I are working in my yard during the week and only in the studio on the weekend (mom has made the decree and I have to abide by it).  So, there it is.

Okay, enough of that and onto the good stuff.

First, mom and I are having a giveaway on our Facebook page.  If you would like to participate head on over and see what you gotta do.

Second, it is my favorite thing that happens on Sunday's, I Heart Macro. These are photos that I didn't have time to post for last week's I Heart Macro because we were taking the kids back to St. Louis and we didn't get home until late. So, without further ado, here we go.

These are pink lilies in the front of mom's yard.  I took these pictures on July 1st, the night before was a huge thunderstorm and it was sprinkling when I got to mom's house and I saw the rain drops on the flowers and I had to run inside to grab the camera to get photographs of the water droplets on the flowers.

These dark lilies are on the side of mom's house.  I was having a really hard time taking any good photos of these.  I do like the shots of the petals though.

I have to say these are my favoritest shots of the yellow lilies by mom's front door.  I love the water droplets on the stamen and the petal shot with the droplets is awesome.  I know I do good when mom and I are looking at the photos and mom goes "Oh", "Ah", "Oh, I love that one."

I hope you head on over to Waterstone Studio to check out all the other wonderful I Heart Macro posts.  Have a great Sunday!

  2. Beautiful photos - including the one of you. Sorry, I had to laugh, because that is exactly what I look like right now - except my shirt is plaid. We have been out in the garden hacking back shrubs that have just plain taken over the garden. Sometimes when I look at all the work I have to do out there I think that an apartment wouldn't be so bad.
    Keep on digging!

  6. Good for you!! There is something wonderful about working in dirt!! The earth smells good and makes me feel alive. So glad you had help. Your photos are wonderful- I absolutely love star gazer lilies and the only way I get to see them is if I buy them at the store here in the desert. You make me miss my gardens in Washington. You look happy and healthy- thanks for putting a face with your name. Now I can picture your smiling face when I talk to you!!

  7. Oh I am with you. I have neglected my flowers to be able to spend time in the workroom. I love the stamen picture too and next favorite is the dark burgandy lily. You probably feel like a million dollars with a job well done....next it is time for a long soak in the tub with lots of bubbles!!

  14. LOVE the photos this week! I really like the maroon ones, they almost look water repellant the way the beads of water are sitting on the petals. Gorgeous shots!
